This is so de ja vu

The church is under redevelopment. We have to use a hotel for our services for the next 30 over months. Today is the first day of our service outside church. The first thing I told the spouse was that “this is so de ja vu".

I pray that the people will continue to remain faithful.

One final shot

The church gathered for one final service before the building goes.

The Art of the Brick

We also managed to take time out to visit this great exhibition…work done by a lawyer turned artist, Nathan Sawaya. It depicted many of us. Caught between a need and a want. A job is a need, a passion is a want.  Not many will choose passion although that’s what many of us want. A job allows us to have a decent life, a passion… it may not. Excellent exhibition. One of the best I have ever come across.

They must get creative too

In art, lies the soul of man. That’s why, Literature cannot and should not die in the journey of learning.

That’s why I do what I do…

Robert F. Kennedy said, “Few will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”

关注孩子,不要关住孩子

It basically meant, watch over your kid but not caged your kid. In spite of the holiday homework given, we made sure the kids have time for play.

Renewing our vows…

Marriage is a commitment to the vows we have made. We participated in the “Walking down the aisle” planned by the church. It was a meaningful thing to do, with the kids as the flower girl and page boy. Kai was a great spot…I think he was the ‘oldest’ page boy.

We didn’t know that among us was a Straits Times reporter. The event was featured in the papers.

For better for worse, in sickness and in health...till death do us part.

It’s hard to let you go…

SHE…has been a part of me. In fact, she is very much me. I met her all the way back in Nov 1980. Today is Mar 2013. Exactly, 32 years and four months. I spend a large part of my life with her. She was there when I was a young girl, she saw me grew up. She was there, when I got married. She was there, when I became a mum. So you see, it is really hard to let her go.

Go, she must. For she has aged. There were leakages, there were damages. She suffers most under heavy rainfall and thunderstorm.

She is…the Grande Dame of Tanglin Road.
